Yet again we have a video game provoking a (little bit) of controversy. The UK Secretary of Defence has called on video game stores not to stock the forthcoming Medal of Honor game because it allows players to choose the side of the Taliban in the war in Afghanistan.

Liam Fox, the Secretary of Defence, said he was 'disgusted' by the idea.

"The point remains that part of this game allows you to play the part of the Taliban attacking ISAF troops in the area of central Helmand where British troops are operating."

On Sunday, Dr Fox said that it was "shocking that someone would think it acceptable to recreate the acts of the Taliban against British soldiers. At the hands of the Taliban, children have lost fathers and wives have lost husbands."

"It's hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product."

Umm, does Mr. Fox know that tonnes of games have allowed players to choose the 'other' side? Nazi Germany, Russia, China, the Viet Cong -  have all featured as the other side since the first person shooter was born. What's so different about the Taliban?
