Go DaddyGo Daddy, the largest domain name register on the planet, is for sale with an asking price of a cool $1 billion. The company was founded by ex-marine Bob Parson, an outspoken extrovert who has driven the company to be one of the leading names of the internet.

Go Daddy's superbowl ads have become a regular event and the name is synonymous with great looking girls wearing the Go Daddy t-shirt. Who said sex sells? Take a bow.

Rumoured to have brought in between $750 million to $800 million last year, the $1b asking price looks very reasonable - but profit figures have not been released. An IPO by Go Daddy has been debated at length by Wall Street (Go Daddy filed for an IPO in 2006, but later withdrew the application) but it looks that Bob Parson's preference is for a private equity sale.
